MOUNT VERNON – Helping young children who qualify for special education support is Sarah Hill’s passion.
An intervention specialist, she has joined the Knox Educational Service Center’s New Hope preschool staff. She comes to Mount Vernon from the Licking Regional ESC where she also worked with preschoolers.
A graduate of Granville Christian Academy, she received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
“I am glad to have the opportunity here to focus more directly on my role as an intervention specialist,” Hill said. “I enjoy working with children who have learning challenges that can include autism, speech and language impediments and other learning challenges.”
The needs of special needs students are outlined in their Individualize Education Plans (IEPs), developed by educators and parents.
“We follow the goals of the children’s IEPs,” Hill said. “I like to get down on their level to learn their interests, what they really enjoy and tap into that.”
